A Grade II listed building, which is being lovingly restored with £1.3m Heritage Lottery Funding, to house the Students’ Union, home of sports, societies and student services. A place to meet and grab a coffee or a bite to eat, as well as a place for society events.
We have over 35 societies who are all moving to Waterside with us, and if there’s not one that you want to join you can always grab 7 friends and start your own! We’re one of only three universities in the UK to offer free sports and societies for all our students and we’re happy to say the SU will continue to offer this when we move in September 2018 – which means no membership fees.
Societies regularly run social events, meetings and trips throughout the year – whether it’s a visit to Belgium, down to London to see a show, or a night at the Students’ Union venue – there’s something for everyone. Joining a society is also an exciting opportunity to learn something new, like salsa or meditation; visit somewhere you’ve never been before, or further develop a passion or skill you already have!

We’re also creating a new Students’ Union venue which will include an art shop, café bar, students lettings agent and nightclub a few minutes’ walk away in Northampton town on George Row.
The café bar will be a bright, airy and contemporary venue offering a wide variety of light snacks, sandwiches, pastries, soft and alcoholic beverages and will be open to the students and the general public throughout the day all year round.
The nightclub will be a premium evening destination which will distinguish itself from other venues in the town centre. It will cater to our core student market through exclusive student nights offering high quality entertainment at affordable prices during the week. It will also be open to the general public through club nights, independent events and private bookings.
