At the centre of the Waterside Campus is the new Learning Commons building – the beating heart of the new University of Northampton.
The Learning Commons is the biggest building on campus, a four-storey space which offers a full range of integrated learning environments from silent study to social learning, whether you prefer to study during the day or late at night, this is a 24/7 library and learning zone offering you the resources you need.
With formal teaching rooms designed with flexibility in mind to 1-1 meeting spaces – The Learning Commons is where the bulk of academic teaching will take place. It’s also the home of the student help desk and our student support services, your one stop shop for everything from IT support to university pastoral services making it easy to find the help you need.
Alongside spaces to collaborate, think, read and learn there will be a full range of catering outlets to feed the body alongside the mind, including two open terrace spaces on the fourth floor. Whether you want to catch up with friends and enjoy a coffee, watch a public lecture, take a look at our latest student exhibitions – or just find a quiet space to work – all of that will be possible in the Learning Commons.
It blurs the divides by combining resources, staff and spaces that would traditionally be separate bringing the University together alongside community and academic partners allowing us to showcase our work.
From the moment you walk through the entrance into the immense, light filled foyer for the first time, you are going to know this isn’t your standard university… take a look inside the build so far.
